In July I am highlighting the good and important work done locally by Luke House Community Meal Program. Luke House serves home-cooked, lovingly prepared meals to all who come. Some days lunches are served and some days an evening meal is served. In total, meals are served nine times per week.
Those offering food sit and eat with those seeking food. The Director of Luke House oversees volunteers and those seeking meals and companionship, with dignity and respect. The need for food is large all year round but in summer there is a special need because children who rely on school lunch programs during the school year don’t have enough food to eat in the summer. Luke House accepts monetary donations for fixed expenses like cleaning supplies and relies on groups of volunteers to prepare and serve food.
To make a monetary donation or ask how you can help by call (608) 256-6325. Luke House is located at 310 South Ingersoll Street in Madison, Wisconsin.
